Nature is magical, and you might find yourself being touched differently each moment you come into contact with it. Spending time with natural scenery can calm your fears, soothe your pains, inspire you to dream incredible dreams, explain to you secrets not known to many, remind you of forgotten truths, and even silently teach you lessons you might never learn somewhere else.

Mary Gallo is a retired senior citizen, and she likes to spend time with nature. In her children's book, Nature in My Backyard: Picture Book, she shares with readers some of those amazing natural scenes in her backyard that she captured with her camera. The pictures are so many, covering a variety of animals and flowers in such rich details that you could feel their presence around you.

Each picture comes with a short note that highlights some information about it. There is so much incredible information about the animals and flowers covered in this book. My favorites were the notes about Katydid, Gray Catbird, Coneflower, Eastern Bluebird, and bees. I have always loved to meditate in some serene natural environment, but reading this book has sparked in me the desire to observe and connect more with nature.

The pictures are very clear and pleasing to watch. I think this is the book's greatest strength and will inarguably make the first memorable impression on any given reader. Mary has done a great job of presenting to children variegated wonders of nature in an already-made format (they do not have to go out there and observe them themselves), even as she has increased their understanding of them.

I didn't dislike anything in this book, and given the colorful pictures and the informative notes, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. Nature in My Backyard: Picture Book is recommended for readers between the ages of five and eighteen, but I think older nature enthusiasts will also enjoy it. This book was exceptionally well proofread.

PICTURE BOOK NATURE IN FULL COLOR

Picture book by Mary Gallo is a stunning collection of vivid and meticulously captured images showcasing the diverse beauty of wildlife and nature. Mary Ellen Gallo, an 80+ senior citizen from Maryland, demonstrates her passion for photography through this visually appealing compilation. The book features approximately 50–60 high-definition images, each highlighting the intricate details of birds, insects, butterflies, flowers, and breathtaking landscapes like sunrises and sunsets toward the end.

The “HD” quality of the pictures allows readers to immerse themselves in the vibrant hues and textures of the subjects. Mary Gallo's talent as an amateur photographer shines through, making this book a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts and those unable to explore the outdoors.

Some of the standout images include the graceful “Female Anhinga,” the vibrant “Dahlia,” the majestic “Kingfisher,” and the captivating “Monarch Butterfly.” Each photograph is a witness to the author's keen eye for capturing the essence of the natural world.

One notable aspect that adds to the book's charm and which I loved the most as well is its focus on wildlife and nature. Mary Gallo's dedication to showcasing the wonders of the world through her lens is commendable. The variety of subjects, from “Pink Orchids” to “Spotted Lagoon Jellyfish,” offers a well-rounded glimpse into the beauty that surrounds us.

However, one minor drawback is the absence of accompanying information after each picture. While the visual experience is undoubtedly captivating, a brief paragraph providing context, such as the location where the picture was taken and interesting facts about the subject, would have enriched the reader's experience. For instance, details about the habitat, traits, and behaviors of the photographed animals or plants would have added depth to the visual narrative. Due to this reason, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars instead of a full 5-star rating. As for the other aspects, as mentioned above, I truly loved the pictures and found nothing to dislike about them. Moreover, since the book hardly has any text, the question of editing doesn’t really arise, and it is free from any grammatical or typographical errors.

In conclusion, Picture book is a delightful celebration of nature's wonders, captured through the lens of an enthusiastic photographer. Mary Gallo's passion for wildlife and nature is evident in every carefully composed image. Despite the missed opportunity to provide additional information, the book remains a visual feast that will undoubtedly be cherished by readers of all ages.
